The future of hoverboarding is here... in miniature, magnetic form.
The upcoming Back to the Future 35th anniversary trilogy giftset has a working hoverboard
It's regarded as one of the most perfect film trilogies ever made. The Back to the Future movies have aged surprisingly well. It had the perfect cast, the perfect soundtrack of the era, with the perfect chemistry between Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) and Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox). Everything was perfect.
What else were spot on? The predictions: smartphones, video calls, virtual reality, even those self-lacing Nike shoes... the company actually made them! Inspired by that, they improved on the design years later. But one more prediction remained elusive, until now.
Exclusive to the upcoming Back to the Future 35th Anniversary trilogy giftset is the famous pink hoverboard.
You know you want it.
All right, so it's not an actual hoverboard. Rather, it's a miniature, finger-sized replica which floats via magnets. But it's still THE hoverboard!
Fans of the movie remember the legendary scene where Marty in the "future" Hill Valley of 2015 (after time travelling via DeLorean from 1985) is trying to escape from Biff and his gang:
The 35th anniversary giftset is in collectible packaging and includes:
- Mini-replica hoverboard (actually hovering!)
- All three films in three separate Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray discs
- All three films in three separate regular Blu-ray discs
- Digital movie codes for all three movies
- One Blu-ray bonus disc
For now, the estimated retail price is reportedly around $70 (about P3,439.44) and pre-order details are lacking on the US Amazon store. That means it may be a waiting game for film collectors everywhere and, hopefully, this will be available before the year ends.
