You can watch 3 Evangelion films on YouTube for free until April 30
Following the postponement of the theatrical release of the much-awaited ‘Evangelion 3.0+1.0’, Studio Khara has uploaded three Evangelion films on YouTube for free as a way of making up to the fans of the animated series amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The highly-anticipated final installment in the “rebuild” series was originally slated to hit theaters on June 27, 2020. However, Studio Khara last April 17 announced its decision to postpone the release of the fourth film because of the ongoing health crisis.
“…due to the unprecedented situation in Japan and abroad due to the expansion of new coronavirus infectious disease (COVID-19) As a result of careful examination, we decided to postpone the release date,” the studio said in a statement.
Meanwhile, director Hideaki Anno also posted a message on Twitter apologizing to the fans for the film’s delay.
“I feel so sorry to keep you waiting more for our new film due to unprecedented situation, even I know well you already have waited for almost 8 years,” he said.
In the same message, Anno also expressed his gratitude to all of the medical frontliners battling the dreaded virus.
“To all the medical staff and related persons who are still working on this case, I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude and respect,” he said.
The Evangelion 3.0+1.0 is a highly-anticipated sequel to the film Evangelion 3.0, which was released in 2012. However, fans have to wait a little longer as the dreaded virus rages on.
In the meantime, fans of Evangelion can watch the first three films in the series to catch up with the world of NERV and gigantic monstrosities called “angels”. The 'Evangelion: 1.0 You are [Not] Alone', 'Evangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance', and 'Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo' can be streamed on YouTube until April 30.
