Lady Gaga named ‘The Icon,’ tops People’s Best Dressed list
Superstar Lady Gaga led People magazine’s list of best-dressed celebrities released Sept. 15. Gaga was named “The Icon” in People’s Best Dressed of the Year issue.
Gaga’s high fashion street looks range from “a sculptural seersucker number to a black lace corseted gown.”
“The superstar delivered a parade of over-the-top looks this year— without ever setting foot on a red carpet,” People said.
From Lady Gaga, who got the first spot on the Best Dressed Stars of 2021, here are the other 9 celebrities who amazed and reminded us of how fabulous fashion can be.
2. Zendaya
Euphoria and Spider-Man star Zendaya, who got the second spot, was dubbed “The Jaw-Dropper” and was also praised by the magazine. “No one delivered more wow factor this year than Zendaya,” referring to her cut-out gowns on red carpets.
3. Leslie Odom Jr.
One Night in Miami actor Leslie Odom Jr. was dubbed “The Break out” as he kept fashion followers on their toes during awards season by embracing bold colors, cool prints and even all-over gold. His stylist, Avo Yermagyan, said, “The cuts are classic, and the tailoring is impeccable, but there’s always an element of surprise.”
4. Anya Taylor-Joy
Queen’s Gambit actress, Anya Taylor-Joy was dubbed “The Belle of the Ball” because of her striking green custom Dior Haute Couture dress and more than $1 million in Tiffany and Co. jewels. She was praised by image architect Law Roach, who said, “The way she moves and talks is like Old Hollywood glamour.” The magazine also said, “Her style may be reminiscent of the past, but it’s clear Taylor-Joy has a bright fashion future ahead.”
5. Mindy Kaling
Actress and screenwriter Mindy Kaling was named “The Ray of Light.” With her passion for fashion, she has been inspiring her 5.9 million Instagram followers since the start of the pandemic. “She can pull off anything,” stylist Jessica Mulroney said of the star’s “eclectic” style.
6. Cynthia Erivo
“The Risk-Taker” was the name given to Cynthia Erivo as she loves embracing flamboyance and fun in her outfits. Though it’s impossible to predict what the Harriet actress, 34, will wear next, you can always count on her to deliver the drama.” Her stylist, Jason Bolden, said “She loves all fashion and will try anything.”
7. Viola Davis
Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis is “The Champion.” According to her stylist Elizabeth Stweart, Davis supports diverse and modern designers, then adds a dash of Old Hollywood glamour. Hence, the effect is always “bold, vibrant and strong, just like Viola.”
8. H.E.R.
H.E.R. was dubbed “The Free Spirit.” For her Oscars debut, she not only channeled the “legendary Prince in a sparkling custom Dundas jumpsuit,” but also added one personal touch which is the lyrics of her nominated song Fight for You displayed along the cape.
9. David Rose
Emmy winner David Rose was dubbed “The Fan Favorite” as his goal is to not take fashion too seriously but to “make you smile.” Rose brings some of that playful vibe with his signature glasses. “It’s such a fun way of expressing yourself and certainly a fun way of dressing up even the simplest outfit,” Rose said.

One Night in Miami’ director Regina King was named “The Pro” because of her angular necklines, daring hemlines, and dramatic details. “The actress has nailed it with her flawless fashion one awards season after another for years.” Her stylist Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald said that the key difference to making it all look so effortless is the star’s “strength and confidence.”
