Dynamic P-Pop ensemble Press Hit Play heralds rebirth with first 2024 song ‘Hey Love!’
Proclaiming a passionate rebirth and musical resurgence, dynamic P-Pop group Press Hit Play or PHP sets the stage for a new era with a lively pop romance track, Hey Love! launched on Feb. 9.
The song comes at the heels of the recent rebranding of the four-member act composed of CHRLS, JP, Sev, and Yuuki. It was earlier this year when the group unveiled its new logo, a red emblem derived from the shape of a phoenix to signify resurrection, as they fiercely welcome 2024 with bigger goals.
Moreover, the fresh age for Press Hit Play was accompanied by the tagline, "Embrace the flames, rise with resilience.” According to the members, it is a declaration of their promise to brave the challenges the new phase brings, ultimately empowering themselves to emerge stronger while not letting pass any opportunity for growth and more discoveries as artists.
On the other hand, “Hey Love!” marks the first-ever music release of Press Hit Play for 2024 under their new label, Sony Music Philippines. The relatable single captures the perspective of finding joy in cherishing someone from a distance, harboring secret affection, yet struggling with the courage to confess these feelings.
“Admitting your love is all about the risk of going beyond your comfort zone. For those who are not ready for that journey yet, we hope that ‘Hey Love!’ could be your anthem and first step. Go send this to your special someone, and who knows what could happen next?”
Meanwhile, as explained by JP, who led the songwriting, production, and recording of “Hey Love!” the piece is the product of his desire to liken the soundtrack of feel-good animated films. They aim to captivate the listeners as soon as it plays, with the catchy lyrics and exciting beat intended to encourage moving, singing, and dancing along with the group.
In explaining the title, JP shared he drew concepts from The Beatle’s classic rock ballad “Hey Jude,” while the works of N’Sync, Justin Timberlake, and Jason Derulo were among his inspirations.
Despite foreign influence, Press Hit Play assured that “Hey Love!” remains true to the roots of P-Pop. Part of their objectives is to attract more casuals and penetrate the mainstream market for international attention, hence promoting the genre as an emerging sound of Original Pilipino Music.
Moving forward, Press Hit Play teased that there is more to come—emphasizing they have only begun their transition to a path of maturing mindset and overall artistry.
Watch out for “Hey Love!” visualizer on coming this February 29 and stream the song via Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms. For more updates on Press Hit Play, follow their social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and X(Twitter).
