WATCH: Netflix film 'What If' starring Alessandra de Rossi, JM de Guzman releases official trailer
"When a newlywed couple gets trapped in a remote island, will they get out of the island or… out of their relationship?"
This is the hanging question in the new Netflix film What If starring Alessandra de Rossi and JM de Guzman, which is set to stream on Sept. 7.
Directed by Emmanuel Quindo Palo, What If tells the story of a pair of newlyweds who get trapped on a stormy island during their honeymoon.
The over-a-minute trailer, released by Netflix on Aug. 10, shows the couple tearing up as they say their romantic wedding vows to each other during a simple yet dreamy ceremony.
"Alam ko cliché, alam ko cheesy, pero ngayon ko lang sasabihin sayo 'to. You helped me become a better man. Dahil d'yan pinapangako ko sayo, Billie, starting now hindi ka na mag-iisa," JM's character tells his wife with tears in his eyes.
It is later revealed that the husband is a vlogger who spends more time recording their trip than actually spending time off-cam with his wife.
As the days go by, the couple discovers truths about each other while trying to keep their marriage perfect "forever hanggang ever."
"I can't even give you what you want. How can you call that perfect?" Billie is seen asking her husband while sobbing.
In the same month last year, Alessandra teased the film on her Instagram account, with a photo of three scripts bearing their names and also of Palo.
"Wala na! Na-post na! Walang atrasan!" she wrote in the caption, tagging JM.
