‘The Witcher’ season 2 trailer teases the end of days and epic monster fights

The Witching season is almost here!

Netflix recently dropped a new full trailer for the second season of The Witcher, teasing Geralt and Ciri’s return to a changed world full of monsters.

Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) and Princess Cirilla of Cintra (Freya Allen) are all returning in Netflix’s The Witcher adaptation.

With Ciri and Geralt reunited at the end of the first season, the new trailer gives us a glimpse of Ciri embarking on a journey to become a monster hunter hersel in the ancestral Witcher fortress of Kaer Morhen.

Picking up some time after the first season wrapped up, the trailer shows how the Continent has been ravaged by an all-out war where monsters now roam the world. The trailer gives us shots of Geralt facing off with monsters including gargoyles, vampires and the tree monster known as the Leshen.

At the end of the trailer we even see fan favorite bard Jaskier show up, and it looks like he made some new friends, much to Geralt’s dismay.

Earlier this year, Netflix revealed that the first episode of season 2 will be a retelling of “A Grain of Truth,” a Beauty and the Beast-inspired story from Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski's The Last Wish anthology.

"It's a story of a father and daughter coming together in a place that doesn't quite feel safe for them. We really get into Nivellen, who is played by the incomparable Kristofer Hivju. We get to explore his character and his backstory with Geralt as well," explained showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissirch. "It's about the secrets that we keep from each other, and the monsters that we are inside sometimes."

Netflix also hosted a live Twitter Q&A over the weekend with the showrunner sharing more snippets of what to expect from the show, while trying not to give away too many spoilers.
