‘Black Mirror’ creator is working on a Netflix mockumentary about 2020
Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker is reportedly working on a mockumentary about 2020 for Netflix.
In an interview with Vulture, actor Hugh Grant revealed that he’ll be playing as a historian in Brooker’s upcoming mockumentary project that will focus on the events of 2020.
“I’m doing a thing tomorrow, actually. Charlie Brooker [the creator of Black Mirror] has written a mockumentary about 2020. It’s for Netflix, and I am a historian who’s being interviewed about the year. I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig,” Grant said.
Although Netflix has yet to reveal details about the project, Brooker seemingly confirmed its existence by posting a 10-second clip on Twitter.

“Even the creators of Black Mirror couldn’t make this year up, but they do have something to add. Death to 2020,” the teaser reads.
The man behind Netflix’s sci-fi anthology series previously said in a Radio Times interview that he’s taking a hiatus from penning new episodes for Black Mirror this year as audiences may not have the “stomach” for dystopian stories amid humanity's struggle with the global pandemic.
“At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those. I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh," Brooker shared.
All five seasons of Black Mirror are now streaming on Netflix.
