Surprise! Taylor Swift's 'The Tortured Poets Department' is a double album
She is not yet done. Two hours after she dropped her much-awaited The Tortured Poets Department, Taylor Swift revealed that she has 15 more songs to release.
"It’s a 2am surprise: The Tortured Poets Department is a secret DOUBLE album," the award-winning singer-songwriter wrote on Friday afternoon.
"I’d written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here’s the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs. And now the story isn’t mine anymore… it’s all yours," she continued, adding a link to her album.
Prior to the drop, fans speculated about a possible double album for TTPD, noting Taylor's 35th birthday and the possibility of exceeding 30 songs. Upon the release, Swifties could not help but react on social media.

"[I]’m sorry but [I] cannot believe the double album theory was correct," one X user said.
Others stated that they still needed time to recover from the previous drop.
"GIRL HOLD ON I AM STILL LEARNING THE FIRST," streamer Brooke AB wrote.
"The way Taylor had to release a double album to prove that she's a multifaceted artist. We've been telling y'all that you can't pigeonhole the greatest songwriter of all time cuz she's here to please EVERYONE," a fan tweeted.
"YOU ARE LITERALLY A GENIUS AND MY WORST NIGHTMARE AT THE SAME TIME I LOVE YOU," a fan account replied on X.
On Friday, April 19, Taylor released her highly anticipated 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department. The 16-track record delves into her personal experiences with love and features exciting collaborations with artists like Post Malone and Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine.
According to her, the latest album is "an anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time — one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure.”
She stated she's moved past this period in her life and is ready for what's next.
"This period of the author’s life is now over, the chapter closed and boarded up. There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle, once wounds have healed," she said in her Instagram caption.
“And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted. This writer is of the firm belief that our tears become holy in the form of ink on a page. Once we have spoken our saddest story, we can be free of it. And then all that’s left behind is the tortured poetry. THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT IS OUT NOW,” she added.
Prior to this, she announced that the music video for her and Malone’s collab Fortnight drops on Saturday at 8 a.m. Philippine time.
"I’ve been such a huge fan of Post because of the writer he is, his musical experimentation and those melodies he creates that just stick in your head forever. I got to witness that magic come to life firsthand when we worked together on Fortnight," she wrote.
