Gotta catch ‘em all: Pokémon launches limited edition OREO cookies

Published Sep 13, 2021 12:00 pm

Attention, Trainers! Pokémon has collaborated with cookie maker OREO to debut 16 limited-edition highly collectible sandwich cookies with unique designs of the pocket monsters.

The collaboration was announced in a video on OREOs YouTube channel that took on a classic Nintendo Game Boy Boy treatment, using tiny OREO cookie dots as pixels following Ash and Pikachu in a wild goose chase to find the creatures in cookie form.

However, much like the trading card game, some Pokémon characters will be harder to find than others. One pack isn’t guaranteed to have all designs, so collectors will have to search far and wide to “catch ‘em all.”

Fan favorite Pokémon characters such as Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle, as well as the elusive Mew, will be included in the mix of the iconic choclate cookie sandwiches along with other familiar faces.

“With a random assortment of Pokémon designs in every package, each package is a chance to find all 16, including one super rare Mythical Pokémon,” according to OREO.

The 16 collectible characters include Sandshrew, Mew, Sableye, Bulbasaur, Lapras, Cyndaquil, Pikachu, Dratini, Jigglypuff, Squirtle, Charmander, Snivy, Piplup, Rowlet, Grookie, and Pancham.

The cookies come in a resealable container with easy-pull tab to keep chocolate cookies fresh, making it perfect for snacking, sharing, or traveling throughout your search.

Check out the video announcement below.

As part of the collaboration, a giant Pikachu-inspired art installation will be up on Venice Beach Boardwalk in Los Angeles from Sept. 7 to Oct. 3. The installation will include over 8,000 3D replicas of the Pokémon x OREO Cookies placed on an 8 H’ x 22’ W mural to create a larger-than-life, Pikachu-themed design.

The Pokémon x OREO cookie packs are now available for pre-order on OREO’s website and will begin shipping on or after Sept. 13, 2021.
