Pageant fans poke fun at lengthy Miss World PH 2024 finals night, celebrate Krishnah Gravidez's win

As the Miss World Philippines 2024 ended on a high note with a newly crowned queen, the grand coronation night also became the subject of memes and reactions on social media due to how lengthy the show was.

The local pageant was set to start at 8:00 p.m. on July 19, but it instead started an hour later at 9:00 p.m. and ended at almost 2:00 a.m. the next day. Because of its length and delays, some viewers couldn't help but vent out their frustration through jokes.

One Facebook user jested that the pageant winner could have an interview on the morning talk show Unang Hirit, which starts at 5:15 a.m. daily, right after the event.

"Ang mananalo sa Miss World PH, diretcho na mag-guesting sa Unang Hirit. Jusko ang tagal," they wrote.

"Tagal ng Miss World PH ah, 'di niyo sinabing may Day 2," another user wrote on X.

One viewer, meanwhile, reposted a video of Ruffa Gutierrez from when she hosted the Binibining Pilipinas 2024 finals night, where she can be seen jokingly telling the audience about how long the tilt was going to take. "Hindi siya seven hours. We will finish by midnight, I believe," she said onstage.

"Sana kinuha niyo si Ruffa as host para hindi kayo abutin ng seven hours," the user captioned the clip.

Social media users congratulate MWP 2024 Krishnah Gravidez

Time problems aside, social media users sent their congratulations to Krishnah Gravidez of Baguio City for not only winning the coveted Miss World Philippines crown, but for bagging three major awards: Miss Photogenic, Best in Swimsuit, and Best in Evening Gown.

Many were particularly delighted at Gravidez's win since she withdrew her candidacy for Miss Charm International to join Miss World Philippines.

"So happy for Krishnah Gravidez, our Miss World PH 2024. All those months of preparing for Charm were all worth it coz you’ve been redirected for a bigger world!" one user wrote.

"She is just the total package—beauty, intelligence, height, personality, great communication skills, confidence, experience, pasarela. Name it! Killed it, again! Slay, Krishna Gravidez!" another said.

A social media user also highlighted, "We can all agree that Krishnah Gravidez is the strongest candidate for the world."

Krishnah was followed by Tarlac Province's Jasmine Omay and Pampanga's Sophia Bianca Santos, who were crowned First Princess and Second Princess, respectively, at the Miss World Philippines 2024 finals night.

The event was hosted by Billy Crawford and Universal Woman 2024 Maria Gigante, with Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2021 Emmanuelle Vera and actor Teejay Marquez serving as anchor hosts. Special performances were given by the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, Johnoy Danao, KAIA, and BILIB. Check out the highlights of the competition here.
