Eyeing the iPhone 13? A study reveals when may be the best time to get the device to score the best deal

Apple fans can now get their hands on the new iPhone 13—pre-orders have been running since Oct. 15 and the phones will officially hit stores on Oct. 22. While it's tempting to be one of the first to own the latest iPhone, a study reveals when may be the best time to buy to get the best deal.

Currently, the cheapest model in the lineup, the iPhone 13 Mini with 128GB, is priced at P44,990, while the standard iPhone 13 with the same storage option is priced at P50,990.

An iPrice Group study predicts that these prices will drop by 12% after six months, and 13% after a year. This means you can save up to P6,959 if you wait half a year and P7,539 if you hold off a year before splurging.

The study also suggests that six months is long enough a wait as waiting for a year to buy the latest iPhone might not be worth it because that price drop only goes down by 1% (plus newer iPhones will probably be out by then).

What sets the iPhone 13 apart?

There aren't really a lot of major upgrades between the iPhone 12 and 13—compared to the iPhone 11 and 12 where 5G and a flatter body design were introduced. Still, the iPhone 13 has some notable new improvements like longer battery life, smaller display notch, improved chipset, different camera layout (for the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini), and added camera features, which focus on video.

The Pro models do get 120Hz refresh rates now, like most Android flagships, but this might be a niche feature that few will appreciate fully.
