Warner Bros. has revealed the official title and new release date for the third Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them film.

In a Twitter post on Thursday, Warner Bros. announced that the third installment in the Harry Potter spinoff series is called Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore and will premiere in theaters on April 15, 2022—three months early than its initial July 2022 release date.

Aside from the official title and release date, plot details for the upcoming film have also been revealed. Here's the official logline:

Professor Albus Dumbledore knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?

Directed by David Yates, the third Fantastic Beasts film will see the return of the main cast members from the first two films including Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore, Ezra Miller as Credence (Aurelius Dumbledore), Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, and Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein. Mads Mikkelsen, meanwhile, is standing in for Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald after the latter departed his role in the project.

Depp, who played the role of the dark wizard in previous Harry Potter spinoff films, earlier said that he would no longer appear in the series after Warner Bros. asked him to resign from his role.

Depp first appeared at the end of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in 2016 and reprised his role as the dark wizard in 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. The actor reportedly just shot one scene since production of the third film began in London last September.

The 57-year-old actor's departure happened after he lost his libel case against The Sun over a 2018 article which labeled him as a “wife beater.” The issue stemmed from allegations made by his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
