'Avatar: The Way of the Water' arriving on Disney+ this June
Avatar fans who missed watching the box office franchise's latest chapter can now get their fill of the tropical moon Pandora, as Avatar: The Way of the Water is set to splash into Disney+ this June.
In a social media post on Wednesday, May 24, Disney+ PH announced that the award-winning film is set to land on its streaming platform on June 7.
Produced by acclaimed director James Cameron and his longtime partner Jon Landau, Avatar: The Way of the Water is the sequel to the 2009 hit film Avatar. Set 15 years after the events of Avatar, The Way of the Water tells the story of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), his wife Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), and their kids Neteyam, Lo'ak, Tuk, Kiri, and Spider as they defend the rest of the Na'vi aliens and their land from a brutal mining corporation.
All of this against the backdrop of the breathtaking seascapes of Pandora, where audiences are introduced to new Na’vi cultures and a range of exotic sea creatures.

Avatar: The Way of the Water's online debut comes five months after the 3.5-hour sci-fi film premiered in Philippine theaters on Dec. 14 and Dec. 16 globally.
The movie became the third-highest-grossing film of all time after earning a total of $2.3 billion in ticket sales. It was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and took home a trophy for Best Visual Effects. The film was also honored with Best Special Visual Effects at the BAFTA Awards last February.
