Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke joins Marvel's Secret Invasion
Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke is reportedly joining Marvel's Secret Invasion.
According to a report by Variety, Clarke is in final negotiations to join the cast of the upcoming Disney Plus series, which will see the return of Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn as former S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury and the shape-changing Skrull Talos.
Clarke, whose role remains firmly under wraps for now, will also star alongside Academy Award-winner Olivia Colman. If you're keeping tabs on their previous projects, this means that the cast of the upcoming Marvel series will have two queens: Khaleesi and Elizabeth II.
Variety said that Marvel and Disney Plus both declined to comment on Clarke's casting news.
Apart from portraying the role of Daenerys Targaryen in HBO's Game of Thrones, Clarke's film credits include Solo: A Star Wars Story, Terminator Genisys, Me Before You, and Last Christmas.
First announced during the company's Investor Day presentation, the upcoming Disney Plus series will follow a group of shape-shifting aliens known as Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.
The Skrulls, which first appeared in Fantastic Four #2, made their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2019's Captain Marvel. The shape-shifting aliens were also featured in the post-credit scenes of Spider-Man: Far From Home and WandaVision.
Marvel has yet to announce the official release date for Secret Invasion.
