EXO’s Kyungsoo makes fans swoon with heart-fluttering solo debut after nine years
Do Kyungsoo has finally debuted as a soloist after nine years—and he’s bringing on the kilig with Rose.
Rose is the title track of Kyungsoo’s solo debut album “Empathy,” nine years after he debuted as the main vocalist of South Korean-Chinese boy group EXO. The album and music video were released today, July 26.
“You are prettier than a rose, I can’t really express my feelings in words,” Kyungsoo sang sweetly while riding a bicycle in the track’s music video.
Rose is an acoustic track that shows off Kyungsoo’s versatility as a singer. While he’s known for his eargasmic vocal runs, this song is a peek into his ability to capture emotions. What even makes this track more kilig is that he wrote the lyrics himself.
The title track tells the story of a person’s shy confession to a potential lover. In an interview with Naver News via Soompi, the singer described the song as an “acoustic folk genre song” with an “easy melody that anyone can sing along to.”
Kyungsoo's solo album “Empathy” contains the following tracks: Rose, I’m Gonna Love You, My Love, It’s Love, Dad, I’m Fine, Rose (English version), and Si Fueras Mia.
Kyungsoo, who wrapped up his military service in January 2021, is the sixth member of EXO to debut as a soloist following Lay, Chen, Baekhyun, Suho, and Kai.
The singer also made his name in the acting industry by appearing in films such as Swing Kids, Cart, Unforgettable, and My Annoying Brother, among others. He also starred in K-dramas like It’s Okay That’s Love, 100 Days My Prince, and Hello Monster.
