GMA Network and ABS-CBN Corporation are collaborating for the first time in the history of Philippine television for an upcoming project dubbed Unbreak My Heart.

As netizens guessed in GMA’s official teaser, the cast includes Kapamilya stars Jodi Sta. Maria and Joshua Garcia as well as Kapuso stars Richard Yap and Gabbi Garcia. It’s the first time for Joshua and Gabbi to star in one show, while Jodi and Richard have worked together in the past for ABS-CBN program Be Careful With My Heart in 2012.

"This collaboration will really bring in opportunities not only to the networks, but for the people working in the network, for the people in the industry," said Jodi.

Yap, meanwhile, said he’s “proud, honored, and excited” to be part of the teleserye. “(It’s) history in the making since this is the first time that two network giants will be working with each other. Of course, I'm also excited to be working with Jodi again and all the other people in the cast."

Joshua and Gabbi also expressed their excitement about the upcoming project. "I'm really honored talaga na makasama dito, na pinili nila ako na maging parte ng proyektong 'to. Excited ako na gawin ‘yung character," Joshua said.

"It's my first time doing this kind of role. Grabe 'yung growth and 'yung depth ng character ko dito sa show na 'to," Gabbi shared.

Maey Bautista, Will Ashley, Bianca de Vera, Nikki Valdez, Eula Valdes, and Laurice Guillen are also part of the cast.

Directed by Emmanuel Palo and Dolly Dulu, GMA and ABS-CBN’s upcoming project will be filmed in Switzerland. It’s slated for release in 2023 on GMA and will be streamed in 15 locations outside the Philippines via streaming platform Viu.

In April, GMA and ABS-CBN announced their agreement to air Star Cinema’s hit movies on GMA’s local channels, including I Love You, Hater, Ang Babae sa Septic Tank, Just The Way You Are, Finally Found Someone, No Other Woman, Fantastica, among others.

ABS-CBN had a failed bid for a new franchise when Congress junked its petition in 2020, putting a stop to its TV and radio operations. In early 2022, Manny Villar took over the media company’s television broadcast frequencies.
