Netflix to release Dragon’s Dogma adaptation in September

Netflix has announced that the anime series adaptation of Capcom video game Dragon’s Dogma will be released on September 17. The streaming service made the announcement via Twitter on Wednesday and also showed its first official poster to tease fans across the globe. 

First revealed in March 2019, the anime adaptation of Capcom’s 2012 action-RPG follows the story of the ‘Arisen’ who must face monsters representing the seven deadly sins as he sets out his revenge against the dragon who stole his heart.

Here’s the synopsis of Dragon’s Dogma:

“After more than 100 years, the dragon suddenly appeared and consumed the village. Ethan confronts the dragon to protect his beloved family, but his heart was taken by the dragon. Ethan, who seemed to have died, revives as the "Arisen" and embarks on a journey to regain his heart with Hannah, the Pawn who suddenly appeared in front of Ethan. While continuing the journey, Ethan will battle with monsters that embody the seven deadly sins, but each time he defeats the monster, he himself will also gradually lose his humanity…”

Following the announcement, the official Facebook page of Dragon’s Dogma also shared screenshots of the upcoming series adaption on Netlfix.

Dragon’s Dogma was released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. After gaining positive reviews a year after, Capcom released Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen which included additional content called Bitterblack Isle. As of March 31, 2020, the open-world action game has already sold five million copies.

Capcom's RPG has been released on various consoles including the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
