‘The Last of Us’ HBO series first image released
HBO has released the first look image from the television adaptation of The Last of Us, one of the most popular and critically acclaimed video games on PlayStation.
The image from the series shows Pedro Pascal's Joel and Bella Ramsey's Ellie in the post-apocalyptic world made famous by the PlayStation exclusive of the same name.
The highly-anticipated series is being led by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and video game series director Neil Druckmann.
While we don't get to see the faces of the characters, Joel and Ellie's outfits and backpacks look very authentic to the video game and even include the pins adorning Ellie’s backpack, showing the attention to detail put in by the team.

Druckmann reshared the same image on Twitter, expressing his excitement for the show: “When I first saw them on set in full costume, I was like: "Hooooooly shit! It's Joel & Ellie!” Druckman also teased more udpates to come from their projects.

It's been previously confirmed that the first season will adapt 2013's The Last of Us hit survival video game where players took on the role of Joel, a smuggler who must transport Ellie, a teenage girl across a post-apocalyptic US where order has completely collapsed.
The first look image shows a fallen airplane on a hill on the horizon to depict the post-apocalyptic setting. While there was no scene with an airplane in the first The Last of Us game, the series will reportedly "deviate greatly" in some of its episodes. The first season will consist of 10 episodes.
