Are you ready?
'Attack on Titan' manga to conclude in April 2021
Japanese publisher Kodansha has announced that Hajime Isayama's popular manga series Attack on Titan is coming to an end after 11 and a half years.
In a Twitter post, the manga publisher said that the final installment of Attack on Titan will be released in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine on April 9, 2021.
The source material for the massively-successful anime series has been compiled into 32 volumes since its debut in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2009. The 33rd volume is slated to be released on January 8 while the 34th and final volume of the manga will hit shelves in Japan on June 9.
Following the announcement of the manga's final chapter, Isayama said, "I've said eight years ago that it will be over in three years, but it seems that I can finally finish it."
He added, "It's been a long time, but I hope you'll stay with us until the end. It wasn't extended to the editorial department at all, but rather it was the last years of being rushed to 'when will it end'. I'm sorry, it's finally over. I will do my best for the final episode so that you will be glad that you have read it so far."
Attack on Titan is set in a world where humans live inside cities surrounded by enormous walls that serve as their protection from humanoids called titans. The manga follows the story of Eren Yeager, who vows to kill every titan in existence following the destruction of his town and the death of his mother.
As of January 2021, the total circulation of Hajime's manga has exceeded 100 million copies worldwide.
