WATCH: Netflix drops 4-minute, 45-second opening scene of ‘Trese’ anime
Netflix gave a special preview of their newest anime, Trese, by sharing the first five minutes of the opening scene a day ahead of the series' official release.
Followers of the Netflix Philippines official Twitter account were given a message on June 8, with the character of Alexandra Trese holding up a celphone displaying the message "4 + 4 + 5 = 13 First 04:45 of Trese June 10, 12mn, FB" and the tweet caption, "Send this message to 10 friends or a manananggal will fly into your window ? P.S. this is not a text scam!!!"

On June 9, 11:59 p.m. on Netflix's Facebook page, the first four minutes and 45 seconds of Trese's first episode was posted, featuring the Filipino dub voiced by Liza Soberano as Trese. Using the numbers that add up to trece, the spanish word for "13," and turning that into the length of the video clip was a nice touch.
As of this writing, the post has been viewed over 82,000 times, has 8,500 reactions and over 400 comments. An hour later, the opening scene was uploaded on Netflix's Youtube channel along with its English language version.
Trese is based on a series of Philippine graphic novels by Budjette Tan and KaJo Baldisimo. Jay Oliva (Justice League Dark,The Legend of Korra) serves as the series' showrunner and director.
Trese's Filipino dub is an excellent homage to its Philippine roots considering that the original komiks series is written in English. Of course, there's also an English-language version voiced by a lineup of prominent actors of Filipino descent.
"Set in a Manila where the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore live in hiding amongst humans, Alexandra Trese finds herself going head to head with a criminal underworld comprised of malevolent supernatural beings," the official synopsis saids.
Trese debuts on Netflix at 12 midnight on June 11, 2021.
