David Harbour teases huge secret for ‘Stranger Things’ season 4

It’s been five years since the hit original Netflix series Stranger Things aired its first season and somehow, the show is still teeming with mysteries and secrets waiting to be uncovered.

In the upcoming fourth season audiences will finally find out more about Eleven’s beloved stepfather, Sheriff Jim Hopper.

Black Widow star David Harbour, who plays Hopper, enthusiastically admitted that the new season is among his favorites, hinting that audiences have the chance to take a peek into Hopper's mysterious past and see another side of the character.

“There’s one thing in it that plays very big in this season that I’ve known since the first frame of the first season,” he revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight while doing press for Marvel’s Black Widow.

According to Harbour, he and show creators the Duffer brothers have planned Hopper’s story arc since the very beginning of the show, “It’s so satisfying to have had an idea five years prior, and to go like, ‘Oh, this is a season when we’re gonna let out this secret that we were using just as a subtle thing to inform something.’ We’re gonna lay it out finally, and it’s really cool.”

“We get to see a lot of Hopper at his most vulnerable, we’re gonna reveal a lot of backstory points we only hinted out in boxes in his attic,” Harbour added.

The boxes in the attic Harbour referred to can be found in the show’s second season episode, “Will the Wise.” While cleaning the cabin, Eleven, played by Millie Bobbie Brown, discovers peculiar boxes labelled “Dad,” “New York,” “Vietnam,” and “Hawkins Lab” in a hidden attic. The only box the audience got to take a look at was the Hawkins Lab one, up to this day, the others remain an enigma.

The latest season of the series aired last July 2019. Netflix has yet to announce the release date for the fourth season of Stranger Things.
