Lady Gaga reportedly in talks to play Harley Quinn in ‘Joker 2' musical
Some good news for you, DC fans! Joker 2 will reportedly be a musical with Lady Gaga to join the cast.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the award-winning performer is in "early talks" to star as Harley Quinn, opposite Joaquin Phoenix’s role in the Todd Phillips-directed play.
Not much has been said about Gaga's character, but the report said that “this new Quinn exists in a different DC universe than the Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, which most recently appeared in 2021’s The Suicide Squad as well as several other films.”
Meanwhile, Phillips teased on Instagram the script for the Joker sequel. The screenplay, which Phillips is co-writing with Scott Silver, is titled Joker: Folie à deux, which is a French medical term pertaining to a mental disorder which affects two or more people.
The post also shows a photo of Phoenix reading it, but THR reported that Warner Bros. "has yet to close a deal with the actor (Phoenix), with the two sides deep into it."
If everything goes well, this won't be the first time Gaga and Phillips will get to work with each other as the director previously produced the 2018 remake A Star Is Born that starred Joker producer Bradley Cooper and Gaga.
