‘Pitch Perfect’ TV spin-off announced with Adam Devine

Adam Devine is set to star in a reboot of Pitch Perfect for the Peacock network, reprising his role as Bumper Allen in the hit musical comedy film trilogy.

The Peacock streaming service has reportedly ordered the series from Universal Television and will air it on the NBCUniversal streaming service.

The TV series spin-off of the sleeper hit will be written by Megan Amram (The Good Place, An Emmy for Megan), who will also serve as showrunner. 

Brownstone Productions’ Elizabeth Banks (who stars in all three Pitch Perfect movies and directed Pitch Perfect 2) and Max Handelman, along with Gold Circle Films’ Paul Brooks and Scott Neimeyer, will executive-produce the series along with Devine. 

The Pitch Perfect series is set several years after the first film, with DeVine’s Bumper Allen moving to Germany in hopes of reviving his music career when one of his songs becomes big in Berlin. 

The original films followed Barden University’s all-girl a cappella group, The Barden Bellas, as they competed against other acappella groups to win Nationals. Anna Kendrick, Anna Camp and Rebel Wilson were among the film’s ensemble cast.

Devine who himself describes his character as “really serious about acapella to the point that it’s weird” was the primary antagonist in 2012’s Pitch Perfect film as the leader of the rival all-male acapella group, the Treblemakers, as well as the love interest of Wilson's character, Fat Amy.
