Is Samsung taking a jab at Apple?
Samsung caught the attention of social media users because of several posts on its US account on X that appeared to mock their tech giant rival after the latter recently unveiled the iOS 18, the newest software update for iPhone, iPad, and Mac users.
In case you don't know, one of the more notable features of the iOS 18 is the introduction of "Apple Intelligence."
It is a personal intelligence system for iPhone, iPad, and Mac capable of understanding and creating language and images, taking action across apps, and drawing from personal context to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks.
Samsung, which has its own AI tool called the "Galaxy AI," posted on X, "Adding 'Apple' doesn't make it new or groundbreaking. Welcome to AI 🍎."

"ICYMI: The 🍎 never falls far from the Galaxy. Experience #GalaxyAI now with #GalaxyS24 (and S23, S22, Fold5, Fold4, Flip5, Flip4, Tab S9, Buds2 Pro...are there enough characters to list them all out?)" the company said in a separate post.
Another new feature of iOS 18 is how users will now be given the capability to rearrange apps and widgets wherever they want, whether they're at the bottom for quicker reach, or on the sides to frame a favorite wallpaper—something that has been present in Samsung's products for years.
In another apparent taunt, Samsung wrote, "Moving my icons wherever I want since 2010 ... isn't that cool?"
They also seemed to target Apple's update on their Photos app, writing, "Next photo album name: Pics where I asked Galaxy Owners 'Can you send me that?'"
Hours before the iOS reveal, which was announced during the company's annual Worldwide Developers Conference on June 10, Samsung had released a 15-second ad for their Galaxy AI with the taglines "Do more with an apple than Apple has ever done" and "Can your Apple do that?"

The posts have since garnered mixed reactions from social media users, with some finding the shady statements amusing.
"It wouldn't be an Apple Event without some jabs from the Samsung Admin," one user wrote.
Others meanwhile criticized the company for the "childish" jabs and called them insecure at Apple's new features.
"I'm a Samsung fan. But this sounds like unnecessary hate," one user commented.
Another added, "I was very close to switching to Android but this just cringed me out."
This isn't the first time that Samsung mocked Apple for their products. They recently took a swipe at their rival after some iPhone users came forward complaining that their alarms had failed to go off, writing, "Rest assured our alarms go off" and "Samsung users woke up on time today."
Apart from Samsung, X owner Elon Musk also took jabs at Apple as he threatened to ban the tech giant's devices at his companies if it integrates OpenAI into iOS.
"It's patently absurd that Apple isn't smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy!" he wrote.
"Apple has no clue what’s actually going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI. They’re selling you down the river," he added.
He even replied to Apple CEO Tim Cook's tweet, saying, "Don't want it. Either stop this creepy spyware or all Apple devices will be banned from the premises of my companies."
