SpongeBob SquarePants' best bud Patrick Star is getting his own spinoff series.

As per Deadline, an upcoming animated series featuring SpongeBob’s best friend is currently in the works at Nickelodeon. The spinoff series, fittingly called The Patrick Star Show, will reportedly have 13 episodes with Bill Fagerbakke set to reprise his role as the dim-witted pink starfish.

The spinoff series will reportedly focus on Patrick and his family, with SpongeBob’s partner in crime set to host his own late-night talk show. Apart from Fagerbakke, some SpongeBob SquarePants alums will reportedly make occasional cameos in the animated series along with a new set of voice actors who will give life to new characters. A Nickelodeon representative declined to comment, according to Deadline.

In 2019, Nickelodeon announced that the iconic animated series will have a CG-animated spinoff series titled Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years. The 13-episode show will revolve around a 10-year-old SpongeBob and his friends as they spend their summer building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish, and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck.

All of the main characters will be reprising their roles in the new show including Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton).

First aired on July 17, 1999, SpongeBob Squarepants has reigned as the number one animated series for kids on TV for the past 18 years. The show generated a universe filled with beloved characters, pop culture catchphrases and memes, theatrical releases, consumer products, a Tony award-winning Broadway musical and a global fan base.
