‘Lost Judgment’ faces end after dispute between SEGA and talent agency
SEGA and Takuya Kimura’s talent agency, Johnny’s, cannot seem to reach an agreement regarding the PC release of Lost Judgment.
Earlier this year, SEGA teased a PC release of their latest installment in the Yakuza spin-off series, but has recently removed all hints of anything PC related.
The talent agency reportedly has strict policies regarding how images of its talent are distributed, which apparently extended to showing Kimura's (who plays the main protagonist Takayuki Yagami) likeness on PC.
"Those on the side of the game developer and those on the side of Johnny’s are said to have been unable to reach an agreement regarding the platforms to sell the game," said on a report by Nikkan Taishu (translated by Kotaku).
SEGA has been pushing their PC appearance recently as they released all of the mainline Yakuza games on Steam.
Lost Judgment was released on Google Stadia, but given that Johnny’s even refuses the idea of the internet (even previously refusing to publish press images of its talent online) many speculate that the agency did not fully understand the platform.
This failure to make an agreement means that the series itself might come to a full stop.
Nikkan Taishu also reported that Kimura, who is a huge gamer, was really sad about the news of the dispute.
"He strongly wanted to continue the series, it seems, but he said he was quite disappointed when he heard that he might not be able to do that."
