Gerald Anderson, Emilienne Vigier express support for Julia Barretto, Joshua Garcia in 'Un/Happy For You'
Gerald Anderson, Julia Barretto's boyfriend, and Filipino-French athlete Emilienne Vigier, Joshua Garcia's girlfriend, have expressed support for their partners' reunion film, Un/Happy For You.
On Instagram, Emilienne said that the movie made her watch more Filipino titles, highlighting her "utmost respect" for the industry.
"I didn't really get to watch a lot of Filipino films growing up, so to be honest, I've never really seen any of your films together @garciajoshuae @juliabarretto or any directed by @awarewolves until now...," she began.
"And I can't wait to watch more because of this movie. You all have my utmost respect for the craft you all have. Making so many Filipinos happy and comforted with your undeniable talent all around the world. Salamat," Emilienne continued.
The internet personality added that she "couldn't feel prouder" of Joshua.
"I am beyond moved. This deserved an award. period."
She concluded, "This film is so packed with love and lessons that heal so many wounds & that sometimes endings can be beautiful too."
'Silent supporter'
Meanwhile, Gerald considers himself a "silent supporter" of his girlfriend, Julia, in this film.
"Alam kong pinaghirapan niya iyan. I'm just ganoon, that's why it's been like this kaya kami naging okay for so many years kasi sinusuportahan namin ang isa't isa," he told ABS-CBN News, adding that he admittedly had a hard time dealing with it before, especially Julia has a history with Joshua.
“Sa totoo lang, awkward talaga ng trabaho namin, nandoon ako sa sitwasyon before. That’s why I tried to be as supportive as possible.
The actor went on to explain his decision to skip the film's premiere so that he would not "steal the spotlight" from Julia.
“Pinaghirapan nila iyan and I know how hard it is to work on a movie na gusto mo mapanood ng maraming tao. You just give it to her. It’s her time.”
When asked if he would be watching the film, Gerald confidently answered, "Of course."
Prior to Un/Happy For You, Joshua and Julia have starred in films and teleseryes, including Vince and Kath and James, Love You To The Stars and Back, Ngayon at Kailanman, I Love You, Hater, and Block Z. They last appeared together in Moira Dela Torre's music video for Paubaya.
The two stars also had a romance off-screen from 2017 to 2019. Despite their breakup, Joshua said that he's willing to work with the actress again in May 2023.
Gerald and Julia sparked dating rumors a few months after the release of their 2019 film Between Maybes before the actor finally confirmed their romance in an interview with Boy Abunda in March 2021.
Meanwhile, Emilienne and Joshua sparked dating rumors in July 2023 when eagle-eyed netizens noticed some similarities in their Instagram posts and stories.
In August, Emilienne made quite a buzz on social media when she seemingly soft-launched their relationship.
