Is 'Euphoria' season 3 canceled? HBO answers rumors
Euphoria fans, the show is safe.
HBO has dismissed rumors that Euphoria season three has been canceled, confirming that the show is still in production.
“Euphoria is going into production in 2025,” an HBO representative told The Independent on Nov. 8. “Nothing has changed.”
After wrapping up its second season in 2022, Euphoria faced production delays due to the 2023 writers' and actors' strikes, as well as the tragic death of Angus Cloud. Despite these setbacks, filming is expected to resume in January 2025.
Zendaya, the show's Emmy-winning star, has confirmed that the third season will be set several years in the future.
In June, chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content Casey Bloys told Variety that the Emmy-nominated show will see the return of its main cast.
He added that the show's creator and writer Sam Levinson doesn't want it to be set in high school anymore.
"There's been a lot of back and forth... One of the issues I think that Sam is thinking about is that he doesn't want to have it in high school anymore. That's where it was set and what made sense then," Bloys said.
"So when you take it out of that, there's a lot of back and forth about where to set it and how far in the future to set it and all that stuff. But I think he's got a take that he's excited about and he's busy writing."
Euphoria follows a diverse group of high school students as they grapple with drug addiction, sexuality, and trauma. Aside from Zendaya, it stars Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer.
