Rogue Legacy is a well-received small indie roguelike platformer from Cellar Door Games originally released in 2013, where characters have randomized traits passed on to their children. Each time a character dies, you start over playing as one of their offspring, each with unique traits, to explore a new procedurally generated castle.
The sequel, Rogue Legacy 2, is set to be released at the end of April, so now would be a good time to try out the first game in case you haven’t played it yet.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, considered as one of the best horror games out there, is a first-person story-driven mystery set in an open world environment, in which the player can roam around and explore at will. The 2014 horror adventure game puts players in the shoes of occult-minded detective Paul Prospero, to piece together the truth behind Ethan’s disappearance and the fate of his family.
Rogue Legacy and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter are free to claim right now until April 14.
This Thursday, April 14, two new games will be coming in to the mix: Insurmountable and XCOM 2.
Insurmountable is a new indie adventure roguelike with permadeath, where the player has to take one of three characters through a journey to overcome huge mountains.
The adventure game released just last April 2021, will have players confronting various terrains as a lonely mountaineer and endure countless dangers of climbing.
Meanwhile, XCOM 2 is a 2016 turn-based tactics video game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. It is the sequel to 2012's reboot award-winning strategy game of the year, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, taking place 20 years after the events of the first game.
In XCOM 2, you play the leader of a guerrilla force, who must ignite a global resistance to eliminate the alien threat and save the human race.
Epic Games Store users typically get a handful of free games every month, with free games released every Thursday in the US, and available to anyone in the world who registers for a free account.
Rogue Legacy and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter are free to download between April 7 to 14, whlie Insurmountable and XCOM 2 will be free to add to your library starting Thursday, April 14 until April 21.
Be sure to keep updated and claim the free games while you can here.
