American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy on season 10, spin-off series
American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy has shared a few new details on the 10th season of the horror anthology series to keep fans on their toes for the next installment, along with updates on an episodic series spin-off.
Murphy recently revealed an image of the poster which features an open mouth full of razor-sharp teeth with what appears to be a tattoo pen having just etched “AHS10 FX” onto the tongue.
While the poster doesn’t reveal too much about the tenth season’s plot, the photo does manage to add to the series’ unsettling imagery.
Earlier this year, Murphy took to Instagram to officially announce the star-studded cast for the latest season in a gloomy video set to the song “Dead of Night” by Orville Peck. Most notably, AHS series mainstays Sarah Paulson (currently starring in Ratched) and Evan Peters will be back for the new season, after both were missing in action in American Horror Story: 1984, the ninth season.
Home Alone actor Macaulay Culkin will be making his AHS debut, acting for the first time since appearing as a guest star in the Hulu comedy series Dollface in 2019.
Other returning cast members returning for season 10 include Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, and Finn Wittrock.
Murphy began teasing the latest season back in May, sharing a photo of a beach with the caption, "American Horror Story. Clue."
Murphy's geotag on the new poster also reads "Provincetown, Massachusetts" which could provide another clue. Fans have thrown in their theories in the comments section for the season’s theme, including ships, cruises, vampires, mermaids, and sirens.
In late August, Murphy announced on Instagram that the new season would go into production in October of 2020, with an initial image of pointy teeth posted as a "clue" to the new season's theme. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, AHS season 10 won't premiere on FX until 2021.
Murphy has also given more details on the upcoming American Horror Stories, a spin-off anthology series that will focus on a different horror story for each episode (as opposed to each season), which is also currently in the works for FX on Hulu.
Sharing the series' poster on Instagram which shows a woman’s face replaced by a spider and a web, he told fans: "We are doing 16 one hour stand alone episodes delving into horror myths, legends and lore...many of these episodes will feature AHS stars you know and love. More to follow..."
American Horror Story Seasons 1 to 9 are currently streaming on Netflix.
