‘Dune’ faces another delay in release date
Dune faces another delay in release date as Warner Bros. shuffles its calendar.
The highly-anticipated scifi epic is now set for October 22, three weeks after its supposed release date on October 1.
This is the second time the film has been delayed from its original date set in December last year.
The delay is part of a bigger move in Warner Bros'. schedule, including The Many Saints of Newark and The Sopranos prequel, both pushed back for a week. While Cry Macho will be released three weeks earlier.
Based on the 1965 Frank Herbert novel, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), a young heir of a family ruling an inhospitable planet “Arrakis” or “Dune,” as known by its inhabitants, that has an exclusive supply of “spice” melange which can unlock humanity’s greatest potential. He must travel to the most dangerous planet to ensure the future of his people and his family.
The movie will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and hit the Toronto International Film Festival, both in September, before it arrives in theaters and HBO Max.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Dune stars award-winning artists Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Chang Chen, David Dastmalchian, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, with Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem.
Chalamet will also be starring in the comedy-drama The French Dispatch set to release in theaters on the same date as Dune.
