How to reload your PlayStation Store wallet via GCash for US, SG and HK accounts

Published Apr 25, 2022 3:49 pm

Filipino gamers can now top up their PlayStation Store e-wallet for linked US, Singapore and Hong-Kong accounts via GCash.

While the Philippines is not an officially supported region under the PlayStation Network, Pinoy gamers have the option to use a PSN account from a different region to play multiplayer or purchase digital games.

When signing up to make an account, Pinoy PlayStation users have to pick another supported country and the most common ones picked include Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States.

The main payment option for games is by credit card, but this typically requires linking a Philippine credit or debit card to an address located in the country where you set your PlayStation account.

Some gamers just advise “borrowing” addresses based in the US, Singapore, or Hong Kong to comply with login and region details, but this comes with very specific requirements. In most cases, credit cards registered in other regions like the Philippines may not be accepted or supported for cross-border transactions on the PlayStation Network.

Alternative payment methods include PayPal or PlaySation Store cash cards in the currency of the region, available from local retailers like DataBlitz, Gameline, GameXtreme, PC Express, Sony Centre, and the like.

However, reloading your account via GCash now offers a more convenient and hassle-free way to top-up your gaming wallet without having to own a credit card or buy credits from an online store.

Here’s how to do it

Open your GCash app and select “View all GCash Services” on the home page.

GCash loading page.

Scroll down to the Lifestyle & Shopping section, then select Game Credits.

Lifestyle & Shopping tab.

Scroll to the rightmost tab of the Game Credits page, to see the available options for PlayStation.

There are currently three top-up options for US accounts in dollars (USD $10, $25 and $50 USD), and two options each for Singapore (SGD $20 and $50) and Hong Kong (HK $80 and $200).

Choose the currency of your linked account and top-up to buy credits, which will give you a code to redeem the credits on your account.

PlayStation Game Credits are now available on GCash.

The current Philippine peso to local dollar exchange rate on GCash is as follows:

  • P580 - PlayStation 10 USD
  • P1450 - PlayStation 25 USD
  • P2900 - PlayStation 50 USD
  • P910 - PlayStation 20 SGD
  • P2280 - PlayStation 50 SGD
  • P760 - PlayStation 80 HKD
  • P1900 - PlayStation 200 HKD

In case you didn’t know, under the same Game Credits tab in GCash, you can also buy credits for other popular games like Genshin Impact, Roblox, Minecraft, Blizzard, Steam, and more.
