Viva Artists Agency sues Nadine Lustre for alleged breach of contract

Viva Artists Agency, Inc (VIVA) has filed charges against Nadine Lustre for allegedly violating their contract.

The complaint, which was reportedly lodged at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court, alleged that Lustre violated her valid and existing exclusive management contract with VIVA by dealing independently with advertisers, promoters, and other parties.

VIVA maintains Lustre's contract is valid until June 2029.

The case was supposedly filed to stop Lustre from further violating this agreement.

Lustre’s camp already announced last January that the artist would terminate her contract with VIVA.

Lustre’s legal counsel Lorna Kapunan contended that VIVA’s contract was “unconscionable, oppressive, and illegal.”

But in a statement released on January 31, VIVA’s lawyers disputed Kapunan’s claims, saying the issue is not “a situation where artists are taken advantage of by a talent management company.”

“Rather, this matter is about respect — respect for the law, respect for contractual commitments, and good faith in professional relationships,” read a statement from Reyno Tiu Domingo & Santos.

The law firm contended that the contract Nadine entered with VIVA “is valid and subsisting.”

“VIVA is not harassing or maligning Nadine as claimed by her lawyer. Neither is VIVA interfering with third parties in directly dealing with Nadine. Rather, VIVA is merely seeking to enforce its rights under the law and under the Agreement that Nadine knowingly entered into and benefited from,” the law firm stated.
