The Virgin Labfest, CCP's series of one-act plays, is coming back to the live stage
After having two virtual theatre runs during the pandemic, the iconic "unstaged, untried and untested works" of the Virgin Labfest (VLF) are finally making a comeback on the live stage this June.
For its 17th year this 2022, the annual festival will once again be held in CCP's Tanghalang Huseng Batute from June 15 to 26 at 2 PM and 7 PM.
Unlike the usual full-show performances held at CCP, VLF presents an array of new one-act plays by emerging and established Filipino playwrights.
Previous show tickets cost approximately P300 to P400 apiece, with three 40-minute plays showcased in a single set. This year's ticket details are yet to be announced.
With the theme Hinga, notable VLF presentations include Juan Miguel Severo's Hintayan ng Langit, first staged at the Virgin Labfest 11 in 2015. It has since been adapted into the 2018 live-action film of the same name starring Eddie Garcia and Gina Pareño. Festival directors Marco Viaña and Tess Jamias are set to helm the festivities.
