Tinder introduces AI feature that can pick your most attractive photos

Not sure about what photo to use for your dating profile? Tinder's AI will help you make a good first impression.

The dating app recently introduced a new AI-powered feature called "Photo Selector, which chooses and curates a selection of the best pictures from your library for you.

The way it works is users will be asked to generate biometric data by asking them to upload a profile photo or a selfie.

Then, the AI will scroll through your camera roll for photos that might work as profile pictures for the app. According to Tinder, it does this by looking at factors like lighting, composition, and more.

Afterward, the app will present you with a curated selection that you can use—ultimately, what you'll upload to Tinder will still be up to you.

The AI also works on-device, meaning Tinder won't collect or access photos from your gallery but the ones you'll use for your profile.

A recent survey by Tinder found that 52% of singles said it was hard to pick profile images, with 68% saying an AI feature for this would be helpful.

Singles around the age of 18 to 24 also spend about 33 minutes selecting photos for the dating app, as per Tinder's report.

Prior to Photo Selection, Tinder has rolled out other AI features like "Does This Bother You?" and "Are You Sure?" which help filter out possibly offensive languages.

Meanwhile, competitor Bumble also makes use of AI through its "Private Detector" tool which automatically blurs nudes and "Deception Detector" for weeding out potential scammers.
