LIST: New iPads, Apple Pencil Pro, and other big announcements during Apple's 'Let Loose' event
Apple users, it's time for an upgrade!
The tech giant just announced its upcoming products and latest updates during the “Let Loose” event in its California headquarters on Wednesday, May 8 (Philippine time). These include the new iPad series—with significant changes that made CEO Tim Cook call it "the biggest day for iPad since its introduction"—as well as the Apple Pencil Pro, the M4 chip, and more.
Here are some of Apple's newest updates as well as its latest gadgets and their features.
M4 Chip
Apple’s next-generation M4 Chip will be used in its new iPad models.
It's particularly made to improve performance for artificial intelligence-related tasks. It has a 10-core central processing unit and a 10-core graphics processing unit.
Apple Pencil Pro
The third-generation device has new advanced features found on pens for dedicated drawing tablets, like a squeeze function to quickly switch between tools, light weights, and colors; a gyroscope to rotate it for precise control of shaped pen and brushed tools; and added support for Apple’s device locator app, Find My, in case it’s misplaced.
It attaches, pairs, and charges magnetically on the iPad, though it’s only compatible with the new iPad Air and iPad Pro models.
iPad Pro
The new iPad Pro measures 13 inches long/5,1mm thick or 11 inches long/5.3mm thick, making it the company’s thinnest product ever.
It has an OLED screen, allowing for better image quality, brighter colors, faster motion, and higher contrast; 12MP wide camera that can accommodate 4K videos; and landscape 12MP ultra wide front camera. It also operates on eSIM and isn’t compatible with physical SIM cards.
Storage is between 256GB and 2TB.
iPad Air
The updated iPad Air also has 11- and 13-inch models. Its features include a Liquid Retina display, an M2 chip, 12MP wide camera, and landscape 12MP ultra wide front camera.
Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro
Apple just launched a redesigned Magic Keyboard that’s meant to be thinner and lighter than its predecessor.
New features include a 14-key function row, aluminum palm rests, larger trackpad with haptic feedback, and USB-C port for charging.
The Magic Keyboard has black and white colors as well as two sizes for the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pros.
Final Cut Camera app
The new app lets users connect multiple iPhones and iPads to capture additional angles during a multicamera shoot. It then feeds it into the Final Cut Pro app, which was updated to support projects on external devices and import media without using up storage space in the iPad.
There are also additional customization options and AI-powered features.
The app works with the Apple Pencil Pro.
