Vice Ganda, Kris Aquino, 'FPJ's Ang Probinsyano' among new entries at CCP Encyclopedia of Philippine Art
Vice Ganda, Kris Aquino, and FPJ's Ang Probinsyano are among the latest entries in the digital edition of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Encyclopedia of Philippine Art, dubbed as "the most comprehensive source of information on Philippine art and culture."
Vice Ganda's entry details her humble beginnings in comedy bars in the '90s until talent manager Ogie Diaz discovered her. She went on to have a successful career in television and film, winning several awards.
Kris Aquino's entry mentions her parentage and her children with past lovers Philip Salvador and James Yap. It then focuses on her body of works in television and film, as well as her acting and hosting awards and multimillion product endorsement that earned her the title "queen of all media."
FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, meanwhile, listed the team behind the series since airing its pilot on Sept. 28, 2015. It talks about each of the nine seasons' plot and the awards the show has won.
Other notable entries include Wish Bus, On the Job 2: The Missing 8, and Spoken Word (Poetry).
CCP Encyclopedia, which covers architecture, visual arts, music, dance, people of the Philippines, film, broadcast arts, theater, and literature, has over 100 new entries.
Elmer Gatchalian, managing editor and curator for digital content of CCP Encyclopedia of Philippine Art told PhilSTAR L!fe it follows certain criteria to include a particular entry. For artists, they must be at least 10 years active and must have a body of work and awards received, as well as other modes of validation.
The editorial board discusses suggested names and conducts a vetting process to decide who gets in.

First published in 1994, CCP Encyclopedia's printed second edition was released in 2018. It has over 5,000 articles and images.
The digital edition followed in 2020, with additional video and audio clips, as well as hyperlinks for additional information. It was last updated in 2021.
The editorial board comprises Nicanor Tiongson (editor in chief) and university scholars Elizabeth Enriquez (broadcast arts); Louie Jon Sanchez (literature); Doy del Mundo (film); Apo Chua, Erick Aguilar and Galileo Zafra (theater); Arwin Tan (music); Nannette Matilac (dance); Edgar Allan Sembrano (architecture); Helen Rivera (visual arts); and Gonzalo Campoamor II (people of the Philippines).
