Are Carmy and Sydney getting together? Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss Bachrach on what to expect in 'The Bear' season 3
Carmy, Sydney, and the rest of the crew are back in the kitchen!
The Bear season 2 followed the journey and hardships the "family" went through opening a new restaurant, with the last episode seeing the chaotic but successful launch.
Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) got trapped in the walk-in refrigerator on The Bear's soft opening night as his kitchen struggled to find their rhythm on their debut.
In the most unlikely manner, Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) stepped up and actually ran things alongside Syndey (Ayo Edebiri), who also had a lot on her plate.
What to expect in season 3
Ebon talked about his character's "evolution" in a virtual press conference attended by PhilSTAR L!fe. One of the most notable arcs in season 2 was Richie's growth from the annoying cousin to cool and collected Maître D'.
"Richie is in a place where he's sort of seen. He's been exposed to [a] more evolved way of being," he said.
"He kind of sees a path to head towards, but it's one thing to see the path and it's another thing to walk in. So I think like any kind of personal growth, it's forward and back, and there's not a kind of clear and one direction."
Meanwhile, Jeremy said that after Carmy got stuck in the walk-in freezer, he'd be the type to bury himself in work.
"Carmy does what he does, which is he sort of buries himself back into his work and really tries to challenge himself. And in doing so, it really challenges everybody around him and I think becomes quite challenging to be around as well," the award-winning actor said.
This season will also feature an episode directed by Ayo.
"Directing was a blast. I really loved it," she said. "[It's] a dream to get to work with our crew as an actor. By extension of directing, that feeling was only amplified. I was just so impressed and so moved every day."
"And then I got to direct some of my favorite actors in the world. And it just felt like a bit of a masterclass, but also like a gift. I was just in the best circumstances."
The Emmy-winning actress helmed episode 6 titled "Napkins."
The actors also got to talk about whether Carmy and Syndey will ever be linked beyond friendship in the show.
"There is no talk in the rooms about any romantic implication," Jeremy said.
The Bear season 3, streaming on Disney+ on June 27, will see the operations of the titular restaurant in full swing as Carmy imposes some "non-negotiables" to achieve culinary excellence.
