‘Insulting my wife personally is a bit off’: Neil Arce calls out gov’t official who said his wife Angel Locsin has ‘no brain cells’
Neil Arce didn’t hold back from defending his wife Angel Locsin after a director-general of the Presidential Communications Office-Philippine Information Agency said the actress has “no brain cells.”
Arce was reacting to a Facebook post by undersecretary Mon Cualoping that responded to Locsin’s Instagram post on Thursday, Sept. 9.
“Angel Locsin has no brain cells. Or a wrong appreciation of things. How can we all continue to live life if there’ll be no police force, actors, business folks, and yes, even politicians,” he said.
Earlier on Instagram, Locsin opened up about her realizations during the pandemic on Wednesday, Sept. 8. She also gave a heartfelt tribute to health workers for their sacrifices.
“This crisis has made me realize that the world can work without politicians, businessmen, police, and even without actors like me. but the world can never work without health workers,” she added.
Following Cualoping's post, Arce defended his wife by challenging the government official to “message me here on Facebook kung matapang ka talaga” and to meet him with “no weapons, no bodyguards.”
“Mukhang sobrang tapang mo sa Facebook sir. I respect your political stand and your opinions but insulting my wife personally is a bit off,” Arce added. The comment couldn’t be found on the post, as of this writing.
Cualoping didn’t respond to Arce’s comment directly, however, he reiterated that he stood by his statement on a separate Facebook post.
“Tungkol naman sa brain cells, I stand by what I said. How do we survive as a society without police force and business folks? May nagsabi pang figure of speech lang daw yung sinabi ng artista. Pano? Suntukan na lang? O patayan? Ayaw nila EJK diba,” he added.
On another Facebook post, Cualoping said it’s “easy to say we don’t need politicians, business folks, among others” in the pandemic.
“But life ain’t like this. A deeper understanding of things will make us discern better because life is not as rosy as we want it to be. But we can make the best out of it when we properly acknowledge that we have to live within a system. If not, then anarchy. Only fools will never understand this,” he added.
Arce and Locsin recently tied the knot in July 2021.
