Prime Video greenlights 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 3
The coming-of-age romantic drama series The Summer I Turned Pretty has been renewed for Season 3.
On Friday, August 4, Prime Video officially confirmed the continuation of the hit American series through a video teaser showcasing some memorable interactions between the three protagonists Belly (Lola Tung), Conrad (Christopher Briney), and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). The video ended with the text: "See you in Cousins Beach for Season 3."
"For everyone living for the hope of a season three," the caption read while noting that Season 3 was greenlit ahead of the ongoing 2023 writers and actor strikes in Hollywood.
It also said that production will not begin until after negotiations are resolved.
Last July 2022, Han told Variety that she wishes to have all three seasons out there to honor the story she wanted to tell.
“It’s totally up to what Amazon wants and really, truly what audiences want. I would love to get three seasons because there are three books. So I would love to be able to finish telling that story the way that I wrote it,” Jenny told Variety at the time.
Meanwhile, head of television of Amazon and MGM Studios Vernon Sanders commended Han for the series and said it deserve a third season.
“Jenny Han is a gifted storyteller, whose fans have been clamoring for the third chapter of this story. We’re excited today to share the news that they have a lot more Summer to look forward to,” Sanders expressed in a statement.
The Summer I Turned Pretty follows the story of Belly who was caught in a love triangle between two brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah. She then deals with her first love and first heartbreak during the perfect summer in Cousins Beach.
Season 2 started in mid-July and is airing new episodes every Thursday on Prime Video until August 18.
