Amazon’s ‘New World’ and ‘The Wheel of Time’ launch crossover this Christmas
Amazon has announced that fans can acquire exclusive in-game items for Amazon Games’ hit MMORPG New World, from Amazon Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time TV series, by watching special streams on Amazon Twitch.
The multi-million dollar collaboration that brings the worlds of the Two Rivers from the series and supernatural island of Aeternum in the MMO together marks an innovative crossover for Amazon’s various properties and services.
The eligible “drops enabled” streams will kick off on Dec. 24 at 12:00 a.m. ET and will include watch-along parties for The Wheel of Times’s first season finale hosted on Twitch.
The Wheel of Time promotion is set to run through Jan. 12 at 3:00 a.m. ET and will require that fans watch a total of seven cumulative hours of eligible streams (or nearly as long as it would take to actually watch the eight-episode first season of the show) to earn all the various digital goodies in the drop.
By watching special New World Twitch streams, fans can unlock new rewards—such as weapon skins, clothing pieces, and more.
Amazon is giving away a variety of in-game items and cosmetics for New World pulled from the Wheel of Time show, namely Nynaeve’s Coat, Red Ajah Cloak, Tam’s Blade (Rapier skin), Ouroboros Crest, Children of the Light, Shadowspawn Blade (Sword skin) and Egwene’s Cloak.
The Wheel of Time-inspired player set features coats, cloaks, blades, and a company crest, which will unlock in the order above—one after each hour watched.
The Wheel of Time epic fantasy series based on novels by Robert Jordan has become Amazon’s most watched series of the year.
Set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it, the story follows Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers. There, she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesized to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.
According to Amazon Prime Video, the original series was viewed 1.16 billion minutes in the first three days it launched and has held the No. 1 spot on its streaming service for three weeks since it debuted in Nov. 19, 2021.

Meanwhile, New World is a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed and published by Amazon Games released on Sept. 28, 2021, which was recently nominated for Best Multiplayer Game at The Game Awards 2021.
The Wheel of Time crossover event also runs alongside New World's Winter Convergence holiday event.
Snow has arrived in Aeternum and with it comes a festival of gift-giving. Players can earn Winter Tokens through repeatable quests and then turn those tokens into exclusive event cosmetics. There are also new weapons, armors, furnishings, consumables, and the "present gifting" emote.
Season 1 of The Wheel of Time is exclusively available on Amazon Prime Video.
