Look: Andres Bonifacio in a new light
Most Filipinos are well-accustomed to the only known photograph of Andres Bonifacio where he is seen scowling with a stern and piercing look.
But in line with Bonifacio day today (Nov. 30), the National Historical Commission (NHC) unveiled a new portrait of Bonifacio that was made by Bulacan artist Carlo Caacbay.
As seen below, the portrait shows Bonifacio in front of the Katipunan flag while holding a copy of a document called the “’Katungkulang Gagawin ng mga Z.Ll.B.' which he drafted to serve as a guide for members in the revolutionary society.”
“This highlights that Bonifacio had a vision of internal renewal which he thought was essential for the people to successfully be independent,” the NHC wrote in its caption.
