Marco Gumabao says he and Cristine Reyes are 'happy,' have 'something special' amid dating rumors
Are Marco Gumabao and Cristine Reyes an item? All he can say for now is that they're "happy" and that they have "something special."
In a recently concluded press conference for his upcoming comedy series Kurdapya, the 28-year-old actor was asked to confirm his rumored romance with Reyes, 34. They were previously spotted together in Siargao and holding hands in Makati.
"Basta, you’ll find out when the time is right," Gumabao said, adding that they're enjoying their time together in private without anybody's intervention.
He pointed out that they're not trying to hide whatever they have right now, especially from the public.
"Hindi naman kami nagde-deny ni Cristine. Of course, napag-usapan na rin namin ito," he said, noting they're both single at the moment.
"Kumbaga, if you will see us, then, people see us," Gumabao added. "Hindi [rin] naman namin binabalandra."
The local star, however, said he refuses to use labels on what he has with Reyes at present as they tend to "put a lot of pressure" in a relationship.
"Basta ako, kaming dalawa, happy kami," he said. "What we have now is special."
Gumabao didn't shy away from describing Reyes as "very wife material."
"Sobrang bait niya. Wala siyang arte," he said, adding that she's "very loving" and "very caring."
He also stressed he doesn't see any problem in dating a single parent.
Reyes shares a daughter with her estranged ex-husband Ali Khatibi, a mixed martial artist. They got married in 2016 and separated in 2019.
Gumabao and Reyes worked together in the 2016 teleserye Tubig at Langis. They're now under Viva Artists Agency.
Reyes has yet to comment on the matter following Gumabao's statements.
