New movies coming to Philippine cinemas this November 2022
Now that October is officially in the rearview mirror, it looks like we'll have to say goodbye to any spooky and spine-chilling movies in theaters.
Or will we?
As the Halloween season ends and the most wonderful time of the year looms closer and closer, it seems that there won't be any more horror movies creeping their way into Philippine cinemas this November, but that doesn't mean that the lineup of movies is any less exciting.
Perhaps the biggest movie coming this November is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Marvel's newest addition to its superhero film collection and the sequel to its 2018 predecessor.
Chadwick Boseman, who played the titular hero, will sadly not be returning to the film after his tragic death in 2020. But fear not as his reign of heroism is continued by his fellow cast members Letitia Wright as Shuri, Lupita Nyong'o as Nakia, and Danai Gurira as Okoye.
If you can't wait for Christmas, then you may find comfort and joy in Violent Night starring David Harbour as the legendary Santa Claus. Only this time, there's a shocking twist to his jolly demeanor and friendly personality.
Without further ado, here are some films that will be showing on the big screen for this month of November 2022 in the Philippines. Release dates below may still be subject to change.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Release date: Nov. 9
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever centers on what happens to the kingdom of Wakanda now that their black-suited hero and king is no longer with them.
As Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, and Okoye are plunged into conflict as they struggle to protect their nation from intervening world powers without T’Challa by their side.
Luckily, they receive some help from War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross, but will it be enough for the Wakandans to forge a new path for the kingdom?
She Said
Release date: Nov. 23
If you're looking for a movie that has a more serious and factual subject matter, then you can buy tickets to the biographical drama film She Said. The film is based on the New York Times investigation by American journalists Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, which exposed the history of sexual abuse against women by a prominent Hollywood producer.
The film details the work done by the duo in trying to break the story of Harvey Weinstein's sexual misconduct allegations. It recounts their journey in interviewing survivors and witnesses who have gathered the courage to come forward and stop an accused serial predator from committing further harm.
She Said also explores how this commitment and fortitude helped spark the #MeToo movement and how people have a powerful ability to bring change to the world as long as they have the determination to work together.
Bones and All
Release Date: Nov. 23
Here's a weird yet interesting premise: Two cannibalistic people fall in love while they go on a road trip across Reagan-era America.
It looks like a horror movie has still managed to sneak its way into the big screen after all in the form of Bones and All, which combines horror, romance, and coming-of-age all into one. It stars Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet as the lovers with people-eating tendencies.
The film puts viewers in the shoes of Maren, a young woman who is learning how to survive on the margins of society. After she meets a drifter named Lee, they go on a road odyssey in search of their identity while facing the struggles of living in a world that cannot accept who they are.
Triangle of Sadness
Release Date: Nov. 30
The rich sure have it easy. Well, not anymore in Triangle of Sadness, a satirical black comedy film that turns the whole social hierarchy upside down when a luxury cruise for the uber-rich gets completely shipwrecked after a violent storm occurs at sea.
Now stranded on a desert island, the remaining survivors must fight for survival without any of their riches and treasured jewels to help them get VIP treatment during this unexpected catastrophe.
Violent Night
Release Date: Nov. 30
As the title suggests, there really is nothing silent about Santa Claus' night in this film, as the gift-giving, cookie-eating man from the North Pole comes to blows with a team of criminals.
Violent Night kicks off its holiday action-comedy plot when a team of mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage. But what they don't realize is that Santa Claus is coming to town, and with his array of magic tricks up his sleeve, they're about to find out why they shouldn't be on his naughty list.
With its fun twist to the Christmas icon, Violent Night is sure to jump-start the jolly season literally with a bang.
