iPhone 16, Vision Pro, and more: What to expect from Apple in 2024
Another year rolls in, bringing new things—new seasons, new beginnings, and of course, new gadgets.
2024 is shaping up to be a big year for Apple as it's not only launching its usual line of iPhones, iPads, Watches, and MacBooks, but it's also finally gearing up for the release of the Vision Pro mixed-reality headset.
Before 2023 even ended and as the new year begins, leaks about the tech giant's next releases are making the rounds. Here are some of the products that Apple will release and might unveil in 2024.
iPhone 16
Following the release of the iPhone 15, Apple is slated to next unveil the iPhone 16 lineup in the fall of 2024. So far, rumors from reliable leaker Unknownz21 say that the new range will feature bigger screens at 6.3- and 6.9-inches compared to last year's 6.1- and 6.7-inch screens.
The iPhone 16 is also rumored to feature a programmable Action button similar to the ones on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. In the current phones, the Action button replaced the mute switch and performs a variety of different functions like opening the Flashlight, launching the Camera app, starting or stopping recording Voice Memos, and more. Another Solid-state button is expected to be on the future phones underneath the power button.
And same as the iPhone 15 lineup, the forthcoming gadgets are believed to have USB-C ports.
Apple Vision Pro
First announced in June of last year, the Apple Vision Pro appeared to be a game changer. This wearable headset offers a mixed-reality experience, allowing users to have a spatial computer where they can interact with digital content in their physical space.
The Vision Pro is set for a late January or February 2024 release in the United States and later in the year internationally.
AirPods 4
Apple might also refresh its earbuds line with a fourth-generation AirPods Pro. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the new version will look like a cross between the standard AirPods but with shorter stems, and it's rumored to come with a redesigned case with USB-C charging, and active noise cancelation.
OLED iPad Pro
Come spring, there may be a treat in store for iPad lovers. Apple reportedly has plans to bring big changes to their tablet in the form of a bigger iPad Air and an iPad Pro with an OLED display. A new Apple Pencil may also come with the new iPad.
Apple Watch Series X
With the Apple Watch nearing its 10th anniversary since its first launch, Apple has some big things in store for the 10th iteration, which may include a new design. Gurman said that we might see a thinner watch with a slimmer casing.
The tech giant is also said to be working on a new way to attach bands to the Watch, like with a magnetic system.
As far as features, the Apple Watch X could feature blood pressure monitoring and sleep apnea detection.
Apart from these, other devices like the new MacBook Pro, MacBook Air with M3 chips, Mac Mini with M3 chip, and a new Apple TV 4K. New versions of its software—iOS 18, macOS 15, tvOS 18, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2—will also come in 2024.
