Ed Sheeran to perform new songs from home after contracting COVID-19

Four days before the release of his new music, Ed Sheeran shared that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

The 30-year-old artist took to Instagram to say that he is in self-isolation after the diagnosis and that he will be taking interviews and performing from home while in recovery.

"Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for Covid, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines," Sheeran captioned.

"It means that I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house. Apologies to anyone I’ve let down."

Sheeran's upcoming fourth album = (Equals) is set for release on Oct. 29. He is also slated to be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live to promote the new work.

Meanwhile, is set to be a 14-track "coming of age" album that took Sheeran four years to create amid his marriage and the birth of his first child, Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.

"It's been a long, long process. I’ve been through love, loss, new life, grief, and everything in between during the whole period of writing it, and I feel like it’s really a coming of age record," he shared on the upcoming project.
