Cardinal Sin's house now a museum
The ancestral house of Jaime Cardinal Sin in Aklan opened its doors to the public as a museum to honor the late Manila Archbishop.
Museo Kardinal officially opened last Sept. 1, a day after the religious leader's 96th birth anniversary.
The museum aims to honor Cardinal Sin's legacy by showcasing a diverse collection of ecclesiastical art alongside personal artifacts, including the spacious dining hall where he enjoyed his favorite Visayan dishes as well as bishop mitres and pectoral crosses.
A portion of the house's ground floor has been turned into a chapel in honor of St. Pope John Paul II. It can be noted that the latter's two apostolic visits to the Philippines in 1981 and 1995 were hosted by the cardinal.
After your visit, you can also treat yourself to some coffee at Latte Coffee Cafe and get yourself some religious mementos from the souvenir shop.
Cardinal Sin was the 30th Catholic Archbishop of Manila and the third Filipino cardinal.
According to CBCP News, he was appointed Manila Archbishop in 1974 by Pope Paul VI and was made a cardinal at 48 years old in 1976.
He died of kidney complications due to diabetes in June 2005.
