‘The Sopranos’ prequel ‘The Many Saints of Newark’ trailer drops
Warner Bros. Pictures shared the first ever peek at The Many Saints of Newark, the prequel movie of the Sopranos series on their official social media accounts.
The movie will focus on Tony Soprano’s early life and his relationship with Dickie Moltisanti, his uncle and eventually fellow soldier of the Soprano Crew.
“Young Anthony Soprano is growing up in one of the most tumultuous eras in Newark’s history, becoming a man just as rival gangsters begin to rise up and challenge the all-powerful DiMeo crime family’s hold over the increasingly race-torn city. Caught up in the changing times is the uncle he idolizes, Dickie Moltisanti, who struggles to manage both his professional and personal responsibilities—and whose influence over his nephew will help make the impressionable teenager into the all-powerful mob boss we’ll later come to know: Tony Soprano,” according to its official synopsis.
Michael Gandolifini will continue the family legacy as he will be playing as Tony Soprano, which was also the role of his late father James Gandolfini in the main series, and Alessandro Nivola as Dickie Moltisanti.
The trailer also featured some of the movie's elegant cast, including Hamilton’s Leslie Odom Jr, Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, John Magaro, Michela De Rossi, and Goodfellas star Ray Liotta.
The Many Saints of Newark will premiere in theaters and HBO Max on October 1.
