All new three-tier PlayStation Plus launches in June in Southeast Asia
PlayStation has formally announced its “all-new” three-tiered PlayStation Plus offering, set to launch this June 2022 with over 700 plus games.
As reported in the official PlayStation Blog, the service will merge the existing PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now schemes into one service.
The service will have three tiers at three different price points, with each offering different benefits for those members.
"This June, we’re bringing together PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now in an all-new PlayStation Plus subscription service that provides more choice to customers across three membership tiers globally," said Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

The PlayStation Plus Essential tier will be largely the same as the current Plus service. They’ll get two monthly downloadable games, exclusive discounts, cloud storage and online multiplayer access for $9.99 (P518.76) a month, $24.99 (P1,297.82) per quarter, or $59.99 (P3,116.03) per year.
The PlayStation Plus Extra tier will include all of that, as well as a catalog of up to 400 PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games.
These games will include blockbuster hits from the PlayStation Studios catalog—and third party partners—downloadable for play.
The Plus Extra tier will set gamers back $14.99 (P778.60) a month, $39.99 (P2,076.74) a quarter or $99.99 (P5,192.63) a year.
Finally, PlayStation Plus Premium will include both Essemtial and Extra tier contents, and adds up to 240 additional games.
These include PlayStation 3 games via cloud streaming as well as a catalog of classic games from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP console generations.
These will be available in both download and streaming options. There’ll also be cloud streaming access where PlayStation Now is currently available. There’ll also be time-limited game trials so customers can try select games before they buy them. Cost wise, the Plus Premium Tier will be priced at $17.99 (P934.19) a month, $49.99 (P2,595.9) quarterly, or $119.99 (P6,230.90) yearly.
According to Ryan, the decision for the tiers aims to focus on providing high-quality, curated content with a diverse portfolio of games.
"The new Extra and Premium tiers represent a major evolution for PlayStation Plus. With these tiers, our key focus is to ensure that the hundreds of games we offer will include the best quality content that sets us apart," said Ryan.
While the full list of games has not been disclosed, PlayStation has revealed some of the launch games including Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man & Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11 and Returnal, to name a few.
"The newly enhanced PlayStation Plus will enable our fans to discover and engage with more content than ever before, and deepen their connection with the PlayStation community through shared experiences," added Ryan.
The all new PlayStation Plus will be rolled out over the course of June first in several markets in Asia, followed by North America, Europe and the rest of the world where PlayStation Plus is offered.
