Are you collecting coins and banknotes? Here's something you can add to your collection.

In case you missed it, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has put the spotlight on its 100,000-Piso Centennial commemorative banknote in celebration of the recently concluded National Heroes' Day, making it available as a collectible.

The note was printed in 1998 to celebrate the centennial of Philippine independence. Its obverse showcases the Sigaw ng Pugadlawin led by Andres Bonifacio in 1896, while the reverse features the proclamation of independence led by Emilio Aguinaldo on June 12, 1898, in Kawit, Cavite.

Measuring 8.5 inches by 14 inches, the paper money is accredited by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s largest legal tender note, per the BSP.

Only 1,000 pieces of the commemorative banknote were printed.

Note that it was demonetized on July 31, 2018, but money collectors may purchase it for P100,000 at the BSP website.

According to the central bank, the note is packaged in a brown envelope and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

National Heroes' Day is a regular holiday observed last Monday of August. It marks the anniversary of the Cry of Pugad Lawin, the beginning of the Philippine Revolution.
